D-VO grew up out in the suburbs of Chicago and was never exposed to house music until arriving at Northwestern in late 2006. Finding a home in the community that is WNUR Streetbeat, he apprenticed with DJ’s Sangre and Jaims, getting his feet under him in preparation for the takeover of Rhythm Mechanics in Summer 2008. Since then he has emerged as a smooth and versatile DJ in the Chicago House scene. Taking on the role of Music Director for Streetbeat in Spring 2010, an honored position in Chicago Music culture, he is looking up and ahead for new shows, new music, and a revitalization of the underground scene in Chicago.
